Some of you have taken advantage of the extra credit given through the blog, some of you have not. Here's this week's question: Who invented electric Christmas lights? Go to Everyday Mysteries and find out! Post your answer (with your name) as an anonymous comment.

Thanksgiving Week
Get ready for the week of stuffing yourself silly and spending time with family members! I personally have three family dinners to attend with one being Christmas as well as Thanksgiving. The only thing I don't like about this time of year is that Christmas keeps getting earlier and earlier. Just let Thanksgiving have it's day already! Then you can turn on your Christmas lights and play the Christmas music. Ok, I'm finished complaining. Here's a website for you to go to. Read a little, play a few games, learn something. http://www.history.com/
Also, some of you have actually read the blog posts and not just clicked on the links. Here is another extra credit item for those who choose to read. How do fortunes get inside fortune cookies? Go to Everyday Mysteries to find out! Post your answer (with your name) as an anonymous comment.

First Week of November
I can't believe it's November already! This year is flying by so fast. It has been great getting to know the middle school students and trying to find fun and educational things for you to do online. Here are a couple websites I want you to check out while I'm gone the end of this week. I'll be at a conference learning a lot of new things to bring back to you. I know you've seen some of these before but it's been awhile.

I'm also going to start posting extra credit possibilities every once in awhile so keep checking back! All you have to do is find the answer and send me a comment with the answer.

Welcome to Fall!
The leaves are changing and the temperature is dropping. It's the time of year for bonfires, raking leaves, and, for some, TPing! I remember those days of trying not to get caught throwing the TP around someone's yard. It's all in good fun, just remember to be respectful when you're painting a friend's lawn white.
Here is a new website for you to try out: www.fun4thebrain.com. There are some fun games to play to review your math, science, and English skills. I know some of you will find it too elementary, but try it out and see how you do!

6th grade ONLY
Good morning 6th graders!
We have been learning the home row and it is very important that you know it well. There are many reasons to learn the right fingers to use on the right keys. You will eventually become faster and faster at keying by continuing to take your time and follow the keyboarding techniques.
Remember:
1. Sit up straight with both feet on the floor.
2. Fingers curved and upright over the home row keys.
3. Wrists low, but not touching the desk or keyboard.
4. Keep your fingers on the home row keys and stretch to reach other keys.
Here are a couple typing games to help increase your speed and accuracy with the home row keys.
